Alexander Acquires New Location – Alexander Lumber Co. has acquired the assets of Peoples Complete Building Center located in Watseka, IL. As of October 1, 2015 this location will be open for business under the Alexander Lumber name.

Peoples Complete Building Center in Watseka was founded by Fred Martin and has been a local, family-owned business since 1902. Dan Martin, one of the fourth generation of the Martin family, said, “We are happy to see our employees and customers being able to continue on with a family owned and community oriented company like Alexander Lumber. While People’s has been in operation in Watseka for a long time, it is exciting to become a part of Illinois’ oldest retail lumber company.”

“The Watseka market was a natural addition to our stores servicing the nearby Gilman and Fairbury markets” said Russ Kathrein, President and CEO of Alexander Lumber. “We are pleased to welcome People’s Watseka into our family and we look forward to them being a part of the growth and expansion of our company.”

Alexander Lumber was founded in 1891 and consists of 20 retail lumber locations, two component plants and one counter top manufacturing facility. It operates in Central and Western Illinois, Southern Wisconsin and the Chicago market. Serving the builder and project consumers in both rural and metro markets, Alexander Lumber is committed to being a strong member of its local communities while supporting new construction and remodeling activity in its markets.
